Anne is the Head Engineer/Producer at La La Land Sound in Louisville, Kentucky. Over the past decade, she has cultivated a bi-city career, dividing her time between Louisville and Montreal. During this period, she has worked on hundreds of albums and projects that have collectively amassed over 400 million streams.

She spends most of her time in the studio, recording, mixing and producing with artists like Murder By Death, Bonnie Prince Billy, GRLwood, Joan Shelley, Strand of Oaks, By the Grace of God, and Rachel Grimes. She’s also contributed to records by Ray Lamontagne, Jake Shears, Emma Ruth Rundle and White Reaper. In her journey, she has shared studio space and creative dialogue with iconic producers such as Glyn Johns, John Alagia and Jim James, experiences that have further shaped her refined production style and collaborative ethos.

Recognized for her punchy, warm mixes and commitment to natural dynamics, she blends analog techniques with a deeply musical, artist-centered approach.

She’s recorded, mixed and/or produced more than 100 records in her career, with records gathering reviews in publications such as Rolling Stone, Nylon, Billboard, NPR, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerns, AVClub, Magnet and most major music publications.

From live band tracking sessions captured to tape to modern, layered digital productions that unfold over months, she is equally at home working on stripped-down acoustic arrangements as she is managing large-scale projects with intricate sonic architecture. She works comfortably across genres—from rock and country to experimental and classical—and is committed to helping artists realize their full creative vision.

A passionate advocate for inclusivity in the recording industry, Gauthier also works to expand access in studio environments, mentoring the next generation of engineers and creatives in audio.

I've recorded with Anne for about five years, having done our record The Other Shore, a covers album, and a Christmas record together. Whatever the project is, Anne gets great sounds, makes the job fun and easy, and is a pleasure to work and hang out with.  We have recorded all over the country with many producers and high quality studios and now we consider Anne our go-to engineer and La La Land our homebase.
Adam Turla, Murder By Death

I just love working with Anne Gauthier! She has excellent ears and skills, endless patience and flexibility, and a kind approach for helping musicians to be at ease and give their best through the entire recording process.
Rachel Grimes, Composer

We've made 2 records at La La and are currently planning a return for our 3rd. In Anne and LaLaLand we trust -

As a sound engineer, Anne Gauthier is the best as what she does that I’ve encountered. She works fast with A+ results and is a clear communicator. The studio is top quality and is built well for socially distanced recording. With Anne at the board and that live room, you can get what you need quickly and enjoy doing it. I couldn’t recommend her or the studio any higher.
